Community Center / Emergency Shelter in Rockaway Peninsula
The pedagogical objective of the project is to explore the cultural and architectural issues intrinsic to the siting of a community centre that transforms into an emergency shelter in case of emergency in the Rockaway peninsula.

[ PROJECT SUMMARY | CONCEPT ]
The project is a proposal for a community center that focuses on the scope of super sustainability. To create an infrastructure on this hurricane prone site that is not only resilient enough to withstand future potential disasters but also supports itself in its own maintenance. In comparison to its neighboring community is unfortunately at the worse end of the stick when it comes to the aspect of health, having a significant percent- age gap on various standards. We thus came to the conclusion that we would also like to guide the community to a healthier lifestyle through growing crops that are based on a balanced diet and perhaps breed a more positive mindset.
